9th Annual LIFELINE 100 Community Bicycle Event Registration to Support Anne Arundel County Food Bank

30% of Registration Fees September 1-11 To Be Donated

Annapolis, MD (August 30, 2023) – Please join Anne Arundel Department of Recreation & Parks, Anne Arundel County Police and Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis and Anne Arundel County (BikeAAA) on October 1, 2023 for the ninth annual Lifeline 100 Community Bicycle Event which starts and ends at Kinder Farm Park.

In recognition of Hunger Action Month this September, the Lifeline 100 will donate 30% of all registration fees collected (up to $2,500) from September 1st-11th to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB).  Food insecurity is a significant challenge for many of our Anne Arundel County neighbors. AACFB has witnessed a significant increase in the number of people seeking assistance at food pantries – they are currently supporting more than 50,000 points of service every month.  In FY 2023, which ended on June 30th, the Food Bank distributed over 3.4 million pounds of food, including more than 540,000 pounds of fresh produce, to their more than 80 pantry partners located throughout Anne Arundel County. We are especially pleased to support AACFB as they are also our partner along with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in the Wheels of Hope bike refurbishment program. Wheels of Hope collects donated adult and children’s bikes which are refurbished by BikeAAA volunteers and distributed to people in need.

This year marks the 9th Anniversary of the Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 with scenic trails and roadways to spotlight cycling awareness, safety and its benefits. The event typically attracts close to 1,000 participants from age 4 to 84 of all levels and abilities, a wide range of bikes including road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes, cruisers, tandems, recumbents, adaptive and trikes. Over the past nine years the event has generated more than $300,000 in proceeds for non-profit beneficiaries and has won an Award from the Maryland Recreation & Parks Association.

The 2023 Lifeline 100 will be on Sunday, October 1nd with 100 and 65 mile scenic routes with views of the Severn River, Chesapeake Bay, historic Annapolis and more. The 30 and 15 mile flat, paved trail routes are great for riders of all ages and abilities including families, adaptive bikes and people with special needs who can register at a 2 for 1 rate with their accompanying rider thanks to our generous sponsors. All routes are fully-supported with route maps and markings, rest stops and SAG vehicles.   A free children’s Bike Rodeo and Family Fun Safari Ride will also be at Kinder Farm Park that day.

The free Children’s Bike Rodeo for ages 4-10 is provided by PedalPowerKids from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for a fun and educational experience. The Bike Rodeo will include a short bike safety check, helmet instruction and safe riding tips followed by a kids’ obstacle riding course that includes turns, stops and crossings.
